Critique Summary

I found the critique to be extremely successful, I got a lot of comments that were both expected and surprising. Many of my classmates said that my series had a grotesque quality to them. This was a response that I had expected, given that my medium is hair. Another observation brought to my attention was how integrated the hair was as a painting material. One person stated that there was a decorative element to many of my pieces. This is a characteristic I was not aware of, but was glad to realize.
For my next project, I will be aware of design and decorative elements that may influence this next piece. I will continue to experiment with paint in new and interesting ways that I have never dealt with in the past. I want to work on a bigger canvas so that I have the opportunity to think more collectively with fewer paintings to be concerned with, as oppose to thinking sparsely as I work on many different projects at once. There is one particular painting that I have chosen to work on throughout the whole semester. I am interested to see how it will progress as I explore new painting techniques.
I am excited for this new project!
